Erugo or Aerugo

Erugo or aerugo is the green film that forms on copper as in the Statue of Liberty.

  1. These are two different words. The green that forms on copper is called copper oxide. This is referred to as "patina." Middle English Latin term "aerugo" referred to the patina. "Erugo" is a Latin term meaning to that means to take the wrinkles from. It is conjugated erugo, erugare, erugavi, erugatus.
